The approach to the magnificent cross of the monastery at Filerimos is lined with fragrant pine trees. The cross stands proud on the mountain-top, overlooking the town of Trianda and the bay of Ialyssos and, within the cross, is a spiral staircase to the top – a journey sure to take your breathe away.
This lush and refreshing venue, situated on an elevated plateau, was the site, in ancient times, of the city-state of Ialyssos, one of the three Rhodian cities mentioned by Homer – the others being Lindos and Kamiros. Adjacent lies the medieval church of Our Lady of Filerimos.
